Cwmavon v Cwmgors 21/09/2013 - W 9 - 13

We expected a tougher test at Cwmavon, with their heavy pack, and we were not disappointed. Most of the territory and possession in the first-half came from Cwmgors, but a quarter of an hour into the match, with one of their rare visits into the Cwmgors half, Cwmavon took the lead, with a long range penalty. In fact it took Cwmavon close to 30 minutes before entering Cwmgors’ 22. It remained 3-0 at half-time.
Cwmavon increased their lead early in the second-half, with another penalty, before Steff Rees slotted one of his own to make it 6-3. Cwmavon increased their lead with another penalty. Soon afterwards came Cwmgors’ try and conversion from Steff Rees. He chased his own up-and-under and pounced on the ball dropped by Cwmavon’s full-back over the line. This made the score 9-10 and gave Cwmgors the lead for the first time in the game. There then followed some good running and handling from both sides, but the final say went once again to Steff Rees who scored all of Cwmgors’ points with a penalty at the end. This made the final score Cwmavon 9 Cwmgors 13. This was a good away performance. The team stuck to their task, and showed true character in fighting back from behind to win the game.

Cwmgors v Gowerton - Swalec Bowl 1st Round 05/10/2013 - W 32-7

This was a much awaited match against the current Division 4 West leaders. Gowerton kicked off towards the school, and put on the early pressure. However, an interception by Steff Rees saw him run from well inside his own 22m to score a try, which he also converted to give Cwmgors an early 7 – 0 lead. It was a evenly contested game, with both sides having chances for most of the half. Cwmgors extended their lead 25 minutes into the game. A cross kick from Darren Howells was well caught by Karl Carter, who off-load to Lloyd Watson to run in and score out wide. Shortly after the restart Gowerton scored a converted try to make it 12 – 7. A penalty from Steff Rees extended Cwmgors’ lead to 15-7. Just before half-time, it looked as if Gowerton were certain to score another try, only for a smashing try saving tackle from Rob Clive forced the ball carrier into touch.
The second half was not without incident, but it was 20 minutes into the half before Cwmgors scored a try. Steff Rees took a quick tap penalty, and after the ball went to ground, a kick through and chase was won by Lloyd Wason to see him score his second of the match. The conversion was kicked by Steff Rees to make the score 22 – 7. There was then a period of pressure from Gowerton, which was eventually relieved by good break from the base of a scrum by Carron Jones, and then linked with backs to take the ball well into Gowerton’s half. Cwmgors extended their lead when Steff Rees kicked a penalty. The final try came from the final incident of the game. Iwan Davies following up well managed to scramble over for his first try for the seniors. The conversion from Steff Rees made the final score Cwmgors 32 Gowerton 7. We now await the draw for the next round.

Bridgend Sports v Cwmgors 12/10/2013 - W 33-39

With more than 10 senior squad members unavailable, and playing away at one of the fancied sides in the Division, we all thought that this match would prove to be a stiff test. It proved to be so. Bridgend Sports Club, slightly against the run of play opened the scoring with a converted try to lead 7-0 after 13 minutes of the game. However, within 5 minutes Cwmgors had evened the score through an  Ethan Price try and Steff Rees conversion. Shortly after, Cwmgors took the lead through a Steff Rees penalty. Some poor tackling saw Bridgend Sports regain the lead with a converted try. A try scored by Daryl John, and a conversion by Steff Rees saw Cwmgors take a 17 -14 lead. The yo-yoing of the lead continued. Bridgend Sports Club scored a try to make it 19-14, before Steff Rees kicked a penalty to make it 19-20 to Cwmgors at the interval.
Cwmgors kicked off the second half, and extended their lead almost immediately to 19-27, when Rob Clive crossed for a try and Steff Rees kicked the conversion. A few minutes later Steff Rees extend the lead further when he kicked a penalty from almost the same place as his earlier conversion. Almost from the restart, Bridgend Sports Club kept in touch with a converted try of their own to make it 26 -30. Another penalty from Steff Rees made it 26-33. Bridgend Sports Club where then awarded a controversial penalty try. They were awarded a 5m scrum. Their pack were pushing back the Cwmgors pack, when they lost control of the ball at the back of the scrum. The referee then awarded the penalty try. With the conversion from under the posts, the score was tied at 33 points apiece. This lead to a tense final quarter. Steff Rees came to the fore to kick 2 penalties during this period to give Cwmgors a deserved 33- 39 victory. Bridgend Sports Club, to their credit, also were awarded 2 bonus points, one for scoring 4 tries, and the other for being within 7 points.

Vardre v Cwmgors 20/10/2013 - L 13-10

Vardre turned up for the match from the start, Cwmgors didn't. Vardre took the lead with a penalty. Against the run of play Steff Rees intercepted a pass near the halfway line and managed to reach the line, despite being tackled by a Vardre player. This made it Vardre 3 Cwmgors 5. Vardre regained the lead shortly after with a drop-goal from their outside-half. A few minutes before half-time, Vardre scored a converted try to give them a 13 - 5 lead at the break.

Cwmgors played better in the second half. The half was pointless despite pressure from the Vardre pack in the Cwmgors 22. With less than 10 minutes to go, Carwyn Lewis scored a try for Cwmgors following a good break by Lloyd Watson. With almost the last move of the match Lloyd Watson almoast stole the win, but the ball he was chasing from his kick ahead crossed the touchline close to the Vardre try line. Vardre put the ball dead from the lineout to win the match.

Briton Ferry v Cwmgors 23/11/2013 - W 13 -33

Briton Ferry kicked-off playing with the advantage of a sloping pitch. Cwmgors, opened the scoring with a Steff Rees penalty. Briton Ferry then kicked a penalty of their own to make it 3 -3. Soon afterwards Ethan Price scored the only try of the half for Cwmgors, which Steff Rees converted. Steff Rees added another penalty to make the score 3 -16 at the interval.
In the second half Cwmgors had the advantage of the slope, and soon increased their lead with another Steff Rees penalty. Briton Ferry then came back into the game through their forwards, eventually driving over for an unconverted try to make it 8 pts to 16. Cwmgors scored the next try. Following some good work by the forwards the ball was passed out wide for winger Scott Stephens to dash over in the corner. Steff Rees converted from the touchline. He then extended the lead with a penalty, before Briton Ferry came back with another unconverted try through their forwards. Fittingly, the final scores of the match came from man of the match Steff Rees. Cwmgors were down to 13 men, and Briton Ferry were trying to run the ball out of their own 22, without much success. Steff gathered a loose ball, threw an outrageous dummy with 3 Briton Ferry players took, and ran in under the posts. He converted his own try to make the score 13 points to 33, and notch up a personal tally of 23 points.

Cwmgors v Aberavon Green Stars 07/12/2013 - W 16 - 0

Everyone had been looking forward to this top of the table clash, and were not to be disappointed. It was a damp day, which looked as if it would benefit the bigger Aberavon Green Stars side. Aberavon Green Stars kicked-off playing towards the road, into a slight breeze. The early part of the game saw both sides probing the other's defence. Most of Aberavon  Green Stars'  attempts to break through occurred close to the forwards, but were met by strong Cwmgors defence. Cwmgors eventually went into the lead from a penalty by Steff Rees, after unusually for him missing an earlier attempt. He extended that lead to 6 points later on after some sustained pressure from the home side. Aberavon  Green Stars'  kicker failed to kick any of his 3 attempts during the half. The final incident of the half saw Steff Rees again fail with a penalty attempt, to leave the score 6-0 at half-time.
Cwmgors restarted the second-half, and soon extended their lead with another Steff Rees penalty. The only try of the game came two-thirds of the way through. Cwmgors chose to run the ball, and a strong burst by centre Lloyd Watson saw him break through, and whilst carrying several Aberavon Green Stars' on his back made it to the line. Steff Rees kicked the conversion. Despite the low score this was an excellent game, with commitment from both sides.

Swalec Bowl 3nd Round 14/12/2013 - W 19 - 5

This was a scrappy game, played in damp conditions, and the early loss of outside-half Steff Rees, due to an unseen punch, didn't help matters. South Gower kicked-off towards the road. The away side managed to slow the game to their pace for long periods, but eventually Cwmgors opened the scoring when wing Andrew "Browse" Davies received a pass to go over in the corner for an unconverted try. Soon afterwards scrum-half Lee Evans took a quick tap penalty, and some good handling eventually saw him receive the final pass to go over for Cwmgors' second try, which was converted by Richard Greig. The score remained at 12-0 until the interval.

Cwmgors restarted the second-half, and had one of their best periods of the game, with sustained pressure in South Gower's 22. Ironically, South Gower withstood this pressure and managed to clear their line, but from a break near the half-way line, Steve Edwards showed a good turn of speed to out-pace the South Gower defenders, the ball was passed inside and was picked up by Lloyd Watson who raced over for a try. The conversion from Richard Greig made it 19-0. The game settled into something of a stalemate. Eventually South Gower managed to get a foot-hold in Cwmgors' 22, and their heavy pack managed to force a try with 5 minutes left on the clock. That was the final incident of note in the match. Cwmgors now go into the draw for the 4th Round of the SWALEC Bowl.

Cefn Cribbwr v Cwmgors 28/12/2013 - W 15 - 19

Due to the recent poor weather the game was played on a wet and slippery pitch. The sun was out, but it was cold. Cwmgors kicked off, playing up a slight slope. Early on the Cwmgors forwards were dominant in the scrum. This was emphasised by two big shoves in the first two scrums. However despite exerting the early pressure it was a quarter of an hour into the game before Steff Rees put Cwmgors ahead with a penalty. Cefn Cribbwr soon replied with a penalty of their own, and they scored the first try, pouncing on a poor tap back from a Cwmgors lineout. They missed the conversion. Just before the interval the Cwmgors scrum was driving the Cefn Cribbwr pack backwards towards their line, when one of their players kicked the ball out of the scrum. The referee awarded a penalty try, which Steff Rees converted to give Cwmgors a 8 – 10 lead at the interval.
In the second half Cwmgors were again exerting pressure on Cefn Cribbwr, but were unable to convert this into points. Cefn Cribbwr scored the only try of the half, when a chip kick was re-gathered, and they ran in unopposed under the posts. With the resulting conversion, this gave them a 15 -10 lead. Again the pressure came from the Cwmgors forwards. This resulted in a penalty with Steff Rees kicked to reduce the lead to 15 -13. Despite coming close to crossing their line on several occasions, Cwmgors failed to score. Eventually Steff Rees gave Cwmgors the lead to 15 – 16 with another penalty.  He extended the lead to 15 – 19 with another penalty soon after the restart. The home side piled in with all they had in the final 5 minutes, and were encamped in the Cwmgors 22, but the away side held on. The final score was Cefn Cribbwr 15 Cwmgors 19

Burry Port -Swalec Bowl 4th Round 11/01/2014 - W 28-31

After the recent poor weather it was nice to be out on a sunny but cold day at Burry Port for this SWALEC Bowl 4th Round match. Burry Port were a big side, both in the forwards and in the backs. Cwmgors started the match, but it was Burry Port who took the lead early on with a penalty. Steff Rees soon replied with a penalty for Cwmgors for an offside infringement to make the scores level. Burry Port retook the lead with another penalty to make it 6-3 to the hosts.  Soon after some good sustained pressure from Cwmgors’ forwards saw Richard Greig touch down for a try, which Steff Rees converted, to give Cwmgors the lead 6-10. Soon after, Burry Port infringed again, and once again Steff Rees kicked the penalty to make it 6-13. Burry Port then scored 2 tries, and converted the  first of them to make it 20-13. Just before halftime, Steff Rees cut the deficit with another penalty to make the score 20-16 at the interval.
Soon after the restart Burry Port scored another unconverted to extend their lead to 25-16. Steff Rees reduced this to 25-19 with another penalty. Cwmgors then scored their second try through Cerith Dennard. Again the forwards were doing well. The conversion from Steff Rees gave Cwmgors a narrow one point lead, 25-26. However, almost immediately from the  restart Burry Port retook the lead with a long range drop goal. Cwmgors were maintaining the pressure, and quick recycling from the breakdown gave the Cwmgors backs to show some slick handling passing the ball out to Andrew Davies on the wing, and he went over in the corner. This gave Cwmgors a 28-31 lead, which they kept intact for the final 10 minutes. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting game. Well done both sides.

Cwmgors v Pontardawe 18/01/2014 - W 39-0

Cwmgors playing in blue for a change, received the kick-off from Pontardawe. Despite the rain, the Maerdy pitch was in good condition. Most of the early part of the game was played in Pontardawe's half, and with the pressure, Steff Rees opened the scoring with a penalty. Cwmgors' first try game from a kick into the Pontardawe 22m, which they failed to deal with. Some good following up saw new signing Chris Madge receive the pass to cross over. Steff Rees kicked the conversion. The Cwmgors forwards continued to dominate, and went over twice, but were held up. Eventually prop James Varney crossed over for a try following a driving maul from a lineout. Steff Rees again converted to make it 17-0. He extended the lead to 20-0 with another penalty on half-time.

Soon after the restart Lee Evans dart around a ruck after good work by forwards to score a try. Steff Rees converted to make it 27-0. The bonus point try came after the pack had driven from alineout 10m from line. Richard Greig was the try scorer. Steff Rees converted. Cwmgors' final try came from Gavin Madge, to make it a family double. The conversion missed, to make the final score Cwmgors 39 Pontardawe 0. It was an entertaining game, despite the rain, played in good spirits by both sides.

Cwmtwrch v Cwmgors 25/01/2014 - W 0-32

A heavy hailstone shower delayed the appearance of the teams. Cwmgors eventually kicked off, and within less than 3 minutes, were 3-0 ahead courtesy of a penealty by Steff Rees . Four minutes later Steff Rees scored a try after breaking through the Cwmtwrch defence following a steal from the Cwmtwrch lineout, and several pick and drive from the Cwmgors forwards. The pressure from the Cwmgors forwards was beginning to have an effect, and following a catch and drive from a linout Richard Greig crossed over for a try to make it 8-0. Lee Howells was the next to score a try, again after good pressure from the Cwmgors scrum disrupted Cwmtwrch. The conversion from Steff Rees made the score 20-0. Just before half-time Caron Jones crossed over for the bonus point try, again after some good scrimmaging work by the forwards. The conversion from Steff Rees made the score 27-0 at the interval.
With Cwmgors playing up the slope in the second half, and with the wind swirling more, it was a half of frustration. Cwmgors came close a number of times, but didn’t score until 5 minutes from the end. After a period of scrappy play the ball was picked up by Cwmgors and some good interplay between Steff Rees and Daryl John, saw man of the match Daryl John cross over for the try. This made the final score Cwmtwrch 0 Cwmgors 32

Pyle v Cwmgors 22/02/2014 SWALEC Bowl Round 5 - L 31-28

Pyle kicked-off the match playing down a substantial slope, and it was the home side who applied the early pressure. However, Cwmgors scored from their first attack, twelve minutes into the match. After winning the ball from a lineout, Steff Rees kicked the ball wide, where wing Lloyd Watson gathered the ball to score.  Pyle replied with 2 tries of their own within a couple of minutes of each other to give them a 10-5 lead.  The only other points of the half came from Steff Rees , who kicked 2 penalties, to give Cwmgors a 11-10 lead at half-time.
Pyle were first to score in the second-half. Their centre crossing for a try, which was converted.  Steff Rees soon reduced the deficit with his third penalty to 17-14. Cwmgors were in control at this point, but were making too many mistakes. Pyle took advantage of the failure to put points on the board, and scored a converted try to extend their lead to 24-14. Cwmgors’ forwards, by now, had the Pyle pack under a great deal of pressure. This eventually lead to penalty try from a collapsed scrum, which Steff Rees converted to make it 24-21. Cwmgors maintained the pressure, and despite looking like scoring on several occasions, failed to ground the ball over the line. With less than 3 minutes to go, the ball was passed out from the forwards, where it had spent most of the previous 10 minutes, and Lloyd Watson broke through to score near the posts. Steff Rees converted to make it 24-28. With very little time left, Pyle managed to re-gather the ball from the kick-off and their centre managed to cross over. The conversion made it Pyle 31 Cwmgors 28. In the end it was a tense and exciting match, which could have gone either way.

Cwmgors v Bridgend Sports 01/03/2014 - W 27-20

The game was kicked off by Cwmgors, playing towards school. Most of the game was played in Bridgend Sports Club’s half, but despite coming close, Cwmgors couldn’t cross the line. In fact it looked like being a scoreless first-half, until 5 minutes before the interval, second-row Liam Jones crossed over for the first try, following a catch and drive from a 5 meter lineout. Steff Rees converted from out wide to give Cwmgors a 7-0 lead. Just before half-time Bridgend Sports were awarded a penalty near the half-way line, which they kicked to make it 7-3 at the break.
If the first-half were short of points, the second-half made up for it. Within 10 minutes of the restart, Bridgend Sports scored two converted tries, both starting from their own half, and both on the left wing. Sandwiched between the tries was a penalty for Cwmgors kicked by Steff Rees. This gave the visitors a 10-17 lead. Steff Rees soon reduced the deficit further with another penalty. Most of the game had been played in Bridgend Sport’s half, mainly in their 22, and the pressure finally told. Their prop was yellow carded for bring down a maul. Soon after Liam Jones scored his second try of the match, again following a 5 meter lineout. To counter Cwmgors’ catch and drive, Bridgend Sports stepped back from the lineout, looking for a truck and trailer penalty. However, this was spotted by Liam, who turned and drove himself towards the line, and managed to stretch over. The conversion from Steff Rees made it 20-17. Bridgend were then reduced to 13 when their No. 8 was red carded for dangerous play. When a 10 minute period of uncontested scrums ended with the return of the yellow carded prop, Richard Greig scored following a 5 meter scrum. Steff Rees converted to make it 27-17. The final points went to Bridgend Sports. During one of their rare forays into the Cwmgors half, they were awarded a penalty, which they kicked, to make it 27-20, giving them a losing bonus point.

Cwmgors v Nantyffyllon 08/03/2014 - W 18 - 0

The re-arranged top-of-the-table clash was played in unfamiliar sunshine. Nantyffyllon kicked-off, playing towards the road. As expected it was a closely fought match, despite the score, played in good spirits. Nantyffyllon had the lion share of possession at the beginning of the game, but couldn't convert it into points. A quarter of an hour into the game, penalty was awarded to Cwmgors after a good scrum which Steff Rees kicked to open the scoring. Soon after that, Connor Edgecombe scored his first try for the club. Some good offloads and support work from a number of players saw him round off a move starting in their own half.  Cwmgors extended their lead when Gareth Drewson took the ball on the burst just outside his own 22 and ran the length of the field, throwing a couple of dummies on the way. The conversion was kicked by Steff Rees. This made the score 15-0 at half-time.
In the second period both sides cancelled each other out to some extent. Both sides had chances, but neither managed to score a try. The only score of the half was a penalty 5 minutes before the final whistle from Steff Rees.

Cwmgors v Vardre 22/03/2014 - W 15-9

The game was kicked off by Cwmgors, playing into the wind, towards the road. Due to the wind, most of the early part of the game was played in Cwmgors’ half. However, it was Cwmgors who scored first. Cwmgors managed to kick a penalty into the bottom corner. From the lineout the home pack drove towards the line, with Richard Greig touching down. Less than 10 minutes later, we saw a repeat of the same move, with the same scorer, giving the home side a 10 – 0 lead. Vardre managed to break their duck a few minutes later with a penalty kick, making it 10-3. This was the score at half-time.
With the wind at their backs, Cwmgors had most of the territorial advantage in the second-half. Despite this, the first to put points on the board were Vardre, with a penalty 15 minutes into the half. The only try was scored by Cwmgors late in the half. Centre Lee Howells made a break on the blind side of the scrum, drew his man and fed wing Gavin Madge to cross in the corner. Just before the final whistle Vardre kicked a penalty to gain a losing bonus point. The final score was Cwmgors 15 Vardre 9.

Aberavon Green Stars v Cwmgors 12/04/2014 - L 22-16

The Game kicked off by Cwmgors, playing against a strong wind. Aberavon Green stars appeared to have strengthened their squad since we played them in the first half of the season, and they were the first to open the scoring with an unconverted try by their right wing. They extended their lead when their number 8 ran in for a converted try shortly before half time, to make the score 12-0 at the interval.
Within three minutes of the restart Cwmgors scored a try through Liam Jones, when he picked up the ball emerging from a ruck and drove over with the help of a few other forwards. Steff Rees added the conversion to make it 12-7. The momentum seemed to be with Cwmgors. There then followed a series of events which probably altered the course of the game. From the restart the referee saw a knock on from somewhere, no one else saw it, and awarded a srum to Aberavon Green Stars. Cwmgors won the ball, but were driven back. It resulted in an injury to the Cwmgors No. 8. By the time we waited for an ambulance, and for treatment to take place, it was almost an hour before the game restarted. For some lucky people it meant that they could finish watching their game, and come over to see most of the second half of this one. When the game eventually restarted, the earlier momentum seemed to be waning. However, 2 penalties from Steff Rees gave Cwmgors a narrow 12-13 lead. A penalty from Aberavon Green Stars made the score 15-13. Another controversial decision followed. The referee awarded Aberavon Green Stars a penalty try. Was there any unfair contact, or was it shoulder to shoulder with both players going for the ball? Would a try have been scored given that the ball bounced away from the player? Who knows, but the referee thought that it warranted the award of a penalty try. This gave them a 22-13 lead, and no points for us. Fortunately, with almost the last kick of the match Steff Rees kicked a penalty, to make the score 22-16, and salvage a bonus point.

The conversion from Steff Rees gave Cwmgors a 7-3 lead.  Steve Edwards almost crossed over in the top left corner, but was tackled into touch short of the line. The try did come when full-back Connor Edgecombe crossed shortly afterwards. Cefn Cribbwr were still in the game, and they crossed for a converted try following a chip and chase. This made the score 12-10 at the interval.

Early in the second half, a strong run from Steve Edwards saw him cross in the corner for an unconverted try to regain the lead for Cwmgors. Betws v Cwmgors 03/05/2014 - W 0-57

It was stalemate for the first eighteen minutes before Connor Edgecombe broke the duck following a good Cwmgors scrum and a long pass from Steff Rees. The conversion was kicked by Steff Rees for a 0-7 lead. Another good Cwmgors scrum lead to Steff Rees scoring and converting his own try to double the lead. Some good lineout work from Liam Jones saw him take the ball and drive over for an unconverted try. Another try following a break by Steff Rees saw Cwmgors’ lead extend to 0-24. A good switch move saw Daryl John cross over the line for a try. Steff Rees converted to make it 0-31 at the interval.
Cwmgors started the second-half well. Steff Rees made a clean break, following a scrum won against the head, for his second try. His conversion made it 0-38. The game then disintegrated slightly with lots of errors. Eventually, Lee Evans finished off a move started just outside Cwmgors’ 22 meter line. Another long distance move saw Cwmgors score another try. This time the conversion was kicked by prop Rhodri Rees, who, rumour has it, is retiring this season. The final try of the game was Daryl John’s second. This time the conversion was kicked by prop Danny Jones, to make the final score 0-57

Cwmgors v Cwmavon 10/05/2014 - L 12-16

The weather had an influence on the game. A strong wind was blowing from the road towards the school, and persistent showers made the ground wet and slippery. These conditions favoured the bigger Cwmavon forwards.  Cwmavon kicked-off, playing into the elements. They were awarded an early penalty, which they missed. Soon after Steff Rees gave Cwmgors a 3-0 lead with a long range penalty. He was not so successful from another 3 long range attempts. Cwmavon were then awarded a penalty which they kicked to even the score. Steff Rees then kicked a penalty for Cwmgors to regain the score, but missed another long range attempt, before kicking his third to make it 9-3. Cwmgors failed to deal with a kick ahead from Cwmavon which resulted in them gaining field position in the Cwmgors 22. Their forwards made some telling runs which resulted in them being held up over the line. They then scored from the resulting scrum. The conversion gave them a 9-10 lead at the break.
In the second half the elements did not make for an open game. Steff Rees regained the lead for Cwmgors, but a drop-goal and a penalty saw Cwmavon go into a 10-16 lead, which they maintained until the end of the game.

Cwmgors v Pyle W - 34-7

The eagerly awaited game to decide the Swalec Division 4 SW Championship was kicked off by Pyle, playing towards the road. Within a few minutes of the start Cwmgors were on the scoreboard with an unconverted try by Gareth Drewson. Pyle were quick with their reply. Cwmgors lost posession, and the ball was fed to their right wing who kicked ahead and won the race to the touch-down. The conversion gave Pyle a 5-7 lead. Within a couple of minutes Cwmgors had replied when Connor Edgecombe sprinted over to finish off a move which saw some good passing and support from several players. The conversion from Steff Rees made it 12-7. Gareth Drewson crossed over for his second try after the Cwmgors pack pushed Pyle off their own ball in a scrum. The ball was passed out and the centre took the ball on a straight run to score under the posts. The conversion, and a penalty from Steff Rees gave Cwmgors a 22-7 half-time lead.
It took 25 minutes into the second-half for Cwmgors to score the bonus point try. It came after a kick from Pyle failed to find touch, and was run back at them. A good run by Gareth Drewson saw Cwmgors set up a platform in the Pyle 22, and the ball was passed out No. 8 Richard Greig, who was steaming down the wing, to crash over for the try. Cwmgors' other points of the half came from a penalty try, after the referee Mr. Mason eventually lost patience with Pyle repeatedly trying to collapse a driving maul. Steff Rees kicked the conversion to make the final score 34-7, and Cwmgors being crowned Champions for a second successive season. Well done!
